WhoSampled Announces New Music Recognition Feature

The WhoSampled app has launched a new update, which identifies the samples, covers and remixes of the music playing around you.

The new update works like the renowned app Shazam, it can easily recognize any song, plus, “when a song is present in the WhoSampled database, the app will immediately reveal all its sample, cover and remix connections, sending the user down WhoSampled’s infamous “rabbit hole” of music discovery. The app also keeps a convenient history of track IDs for users if they are logged in.”

WhoSampled has a user-built database, and now it lists over half a million songs and has become a wildly popular hub for fans of club music.

“We had always dreamed of adding these features from the moment we launched the app six years ago. You can identify the song playing around you, then dig deeper and find out what other song was sampled in the song you’re hearing. For example, the chorus or riff might sound familiar but not from the song that is playing, it’s from somewhere else. Other music recognition apps will tell you the name of the song you’re hearing, but WhoSampled is the only app that will give you the answer you’re looking for, allow you to understand the origins of the composition and reveal the other recordings that sampled it,” revealed WhoSampled’s CEO Nadav Poraz.

The app is available ad-free on iOS for $3.99 while on Android is ad-supported and free. Music recognition costs $10 for a year and removes all ads.
