Shazam Style App WhoSampled Will Reveal “Any Songs DNA” After Sampling

The music sampling app WhoSampled has added a new feature that allows the users to discover an entire song’s DNA after listening to it.
When you listen to any given song, the WhoSampled app can now recognize the original track and also reveal its sample, the history of the cover, any remixes using it huge website and app database information.

How it works
This new feature is very similar to the music discovery app Shazam, but instead uses a WhoSampled crowdsourced database. This database has been gathered over the course of a decade, containing a large set of accurate vetted data on thousands of samples, remixes and cover versions. The database now lists over half a million songs and is now very popular among fans of hip hop, RnB and other music genres that go deep into the history of music.

The CEO of WhoSampled, Nadav Poraz spoke extensively about this feature and its goal for this app and the differences from similar apps like Shazam:

”We had always dreamed of adding these features from the moment we launched the app six years ago. You can identify the song playing around you, then dig deeper and find out what other song was sampled in the song you’re hearing. For example, the chorus or riff might sound familiar but not from somewhere else. Other music recognition apps will tell you the name of the song you’re hearing, but WhoSampled is the only app that will give you the answer you’re looking for, allow you to understand the origins of the composition and reveal the other recordings that sampled it”

Submission rules
Users are also allowed to add a sample or a cover to a song as long as it is not already existing in the WhoSampled database. You have to be 100% sure that the cover or remix you are submitting is genuine and completely verified after consulting the forum. It should be noted that the only songs that can be submitted are commercially released music in either physical or digital format (not unconfirmed leaks or demos)

Not only songs are sampled, movies, tv shows, images are also sampled. The app is available on iPhones for $3.99 without any ads, while for Android app it is free and ad supported.
